Like it or not, you can’t live without education in the modern world. That’s why studying this topic in English is crucial. Let’s start.


- a place where you can get higher education, usually a part of the university.

Example:

Classroom - a room where lessons take place.
Example:
Your English lesson will be in classroom number 28. It’s on the second floor.
College/ University/ Further education - a place where you can get higher education and a certain degree.
Example:
Dilan plans to pass his exams well and enter college next year.
High school/ Secondary school - an institution that provides secondary education, usually it is the last few years before graduating from school.
Example:
I’m planning on studying at Harvard University after high school.
Homework - certain tasks that a student has to do at home.
Example:
I can’t go to the movies with you today. I have to do my homework.
Kindergarten/ Preschool - an educational institution where children play, learn, and get ready for primary school.
Example:
This is our last year in kindergarten. Mia is going to primary school next year.
Lesson - a certain period (usually about an hour) of teaching or learning.
Example:
I have only three lessons today, so in the afternoon I will be free and we can go to the movies together.
Online course - studying process that you can go through the internet.
Example:
Peter bought the online course in web design.
Primary school - a school for pupils between the ages of six and eleven.
Example:
In primary school, kids learn how to read, write, and count.
School subject - a scientific or humanitarian subject that is studied at school.
Example:
Math was my favorite school subject.
Science - an activity that involves studying the natural or physical world by means of experiment, observation, and analysis.
Example:

Student - a person who studies in an educational institution, usually a high school or university.
Example:
College students usually suffer from sleep deprivation since they need to study a lot.
Teacher - a professional whose job is teaching pupils at school.
Example:
Our new English teacher assigned us to write a short poem.
To give homework - to give pupils the tasks they have to do at home.
Example:
My math teacher gave me a lot of homework.
To take notes - to record important information during a lesson or lecture.
Example:
Make sure to take notes. This topic is very important.
Art - a class where pupils learn how to draw or paint.
Example:
My favorite subject at school was art.
Biology - a class where living organisms are studied.
Example:
Yesterday's biology class was dedicated to mammals.
Chemistry - a class where the substances that form matter are learned.
Example:
I find chemistry the most challenging school subject.
English - a class where the English language is learned.
Example:
In grammar schools, pupils usually have more English classes than in regular schools.
Foreign language (Spanish, Italian, French, etc.) - a class where a specific foreign language, such as French, Italian, Spanish, etc., is learned.
Example:
Do you have any foreign language classes?Yes, I have Spanish.
Geography - a class where the physical features of the earth, its atmosphere, and the ways human activity affects it are learned.
Example:
In our next geography lesson, we will discuss population aging and migration.
Handicrafts - a class where students make decorative or other objects by hand.
Example:
I made this picture frame in our last handicrafts lesson.
History - a class where the world history and/or the history of particular nations is learned.
Example:
History definitely was my favorite subject at school. We had a great teacher who explained everything in a rather creative way.
Information technology (IT) - a class where information technologies, namely computers and telecommunications, are learned.
Example:
Nowadays, information technology is perhaps the most important school subject.
Literature - a class where pieces of literature, authors’ biography, as well as history and theory of literature are studied.
Example:
I need to read a huge novel for my literature class, so, unfortunately, I cannot go out with you this weekend.
Mathematics/ Math - a class where the science of quantity and number is studied.
Example:
I hate math! Numbers are just not my thing.
Music - a class where the history of music, as well as famous and culturally-significant pieces of music, are studied.
Example:
Most of my classmates do not like music lessons, but I personally love them.
Natural science - a group of classes about the physical world that involves physics, chemistry, biology, and geology.
Example:
Matt is particularly good at natural science. I think he has great potential in this field.
Physics - a class where the nature and properties of energy and matter are learned.
Example:
I think that physics is a challenging school subject, and it’s definitely not for everyone, but it is still an important part of the curriculum.
Physical education (PE) - a class where pupils develop their ability to perform activities associated with a healthy lifestyle.
Example:
I am a rather clumsy person, which is why PE wasn’t my favorite subject at school.
